My ipod is not turning on, its turns on but

my ipod is not turning on, it turns on but only when i connect it with my pc to charge it.. it shows the full battery but when i plug it out! it went back to that black screen! it not working and not showing any thing until i connect it to the pc other wise its not showing me any thing no buttons works at all its 8gb nano i have please if any one knows about it ?

Please consider restoring the iPod to factory settings to see whether the problem gets solved.

and how can i do that?? i mean would u tell me this step by step ? how to restoring the ipod to factory setting ??
