Wi-fi connection help

I have an off brand netbook that works great with eihernet cable but I cannot go to wifi hotspots and ever get a connection. I was told it was wireless ready. Any suggestions?

Hi there ,

Get in device manager and see if the driver for wireless is installed or nt,also provide model of the machine and its specifications.
