Hang on desktop with no icons and taskbar

Hello,

I did a scan and it found to have a few Trojan viruses. I have removed the viuses and was prompted to restart the pc. So i did. Aftter the pc has restarted, to my horror, the screen showed only the XP desktop(without any icons or taskbar).

Thus, i try to press, alt+crtl+del and it seems like there isnt any response. What should i do?

Does anyone know the answer for my case?

Should i do a repair for my XP with the CD? I hope my data will not be gone.

Pls help me asap. Urgent.
