Why is my 2Gig Flash disk is seen as 256mb

My 2Gig Flash disk size is always detected as 256Mb. Windows Format can only see the same capacity (256Mb) and yet it's a 2Gig Flash Disk. If I put music or data files, only the first 150Mb is seen. Anything beyond is not recognized. Now, how can I get back my full 2Gig & be able to store my data/misic without loosing it? Please help!
