Cheap upgrades

i have an older dual core computer running windows vista. it has 2GB of DDR2 RAM, video built into the motherboard, and a 160 GB hard drive. the case and motherboard are generic types. the monitor is an LCD and has a 1024 x 768 display. i want to make some cheap upgrades to make it faster. any suggestions?

A video card would be the most effective upgrade.
