Ok , I completely broke my headphone jack and took it out of my laptop. I hoped my laptop speakers would play normally. But no, now my laptop seems to think the headphone is permanently connected, so I don't get any sound from my laptop speakers.
So what does stupid me has discovered? When I put a srewdriver in the big hole where my headphone jack used to be, I get sound from my laptop speakers.
Poking in my powered on laptop with a screwdriver in order to make some connection where my headphone jack used to be, can not be a solution to make my laptop speakers work.
If you find a way how I can let my pc-speakers work while my laptop thinks there is a headphone connected, you will probably save my life.

dell laptop, windows xp.

Saving your life could be expensive if you keep probing with that screw driver.
There is only one fix and that is to replace the headphone socket (the jack is the end on your headphones) this means taking the keyboard base off at least. So as you can get to renew the socket. If you go not know what you are doing take it to a reputable computer engineer. If you keep poking that screw driver in that hole you could damage the motherboard and you will need a new computer
