Clicking/CD isn't recognized

Hello,

When i enter a CD into my disc tray and close it, it makes a loud clicking noise, then continues clicking for a bit. When i try to open the program from the CD it acts as if it is not inserted (ex: insert a game CD and go to open the game and it says i need to put in the CD). any ideas??

oh and the loud clicking noise is more like a loud vibrating noise. and if you touch the disc tray while its making that noise you can feel the vibrations
