Hello,
The back light on my hi-grade lap top doesn't always come on....I've connected it to a old monitor I had so I'm still using it....Then randomly like now...it come's on!!! When the light doesn't come on you can see all the information on the screen just really black....any idea's? I did think it needed a new screen but i've been told it would be ceaper to buy a new laptop....but as it sometime's randomly come's on I don't know what to do??

Firstly check for a loose connection.
You need to remove the facia at the top of your keyboard (see manual) and check the connections on the wires and plugs that go up behind the screen.
You can also check behind the screen however this is easy but very delicate job.
You can pick up used screens on ebay.
When you remove the screen you will find the makers and model number of that screen and thats the one you will need or one that is compatible
