I am having a problem with the sound on my laptop. I can play music and movies sounds works fine tested the speakers and they function correctly, but I can't hear any windows applications sounds like the sound that is made when you slide the volume control tab. Also I am unable to hear any sounds from the internet. Laptop makes no sound when starting up and the digital output device(SPDIF) doesn't make any sound when I test it but the computer states that it is working correctly.
I have a compaq computer, and the same problem happened to me. How I fixed it was, I went to the volume button, clicked on it, clicked on the mixer button, then it allows you to adjust all different types of audio settings.
