Ethernet - connection

Hello,
i just recieved a new modem or router, im not sure, but its just one single white box. "thomson" anyways, all the lights are green but the computer does not recognize it. its like its not even there. i think its the ethernet port, but im just learning about computers and im 16, so halp? :)

Hi there,

You need to connect the lan cable from it to your pc lan port and if doing this and also connecting via usb it will not work.

i did so. is the lan port the port tht has like 3 little circles [symbol]?
if thts not the one then i cant fine another input
