connection Samsung Lcd to Laptop Closed

Hello,  

i am having trouble with connectin myy acer laptop to my samsung lcd tv.. both have HDMI in common.. but when i connect it.. the tv shows that no device if found.. please help me! thanks :)) i would really appricate it :)) 

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 6.0
