One key is kept pressed and creating sound

Hello,
the keyboard and mouse of my laptop(compaq presario V5000) are suddenly creating problem.the back slash (\) key is kept pressed and thats why its creating sound continuously.
And the mouse is moving but unable to open or select of something with it.
I am very much confused.please suggest me what to do in this situation.

The keyboard is broken. You can try to gently pry the stuck key up as a temporary fix. It may just result in breaking the key off the keyboard. Replacement keyboards can be bought on eBay.
