External hard drive fire wire problem

Hello,
I have a western digital external hard drive model number WD3200MT and running windows 7. my problem is that connecting Via USB works perfectly however connecting Via Fire wire the external hard drive doesn't power up at all.

Please help me,

in many case pocket hdd wire may be damage and some and few time short usb port damage hard disk. i have faced this proble . we can get extr wire in market to purchase. there is small and usb two type of port is used. if your port is damage and not aviable to purchase wire , you can purchase hdd case with wire. thanks
