Hello,

i need to monitor my LAN using Cisco IPS Router .. then i have connect my router to cisco catalyst 2950 switches!

i have configure monitor session using this command :

Switch(config)#monitor session 1 source interface fa0/1 - 12
Switch(config)#monitor session 1 destination interface fa0/24

but after this configuration my router don't have connection .. after show interface fa0/24 the interface is up but protocol is down!

so anyone here can help me solve this problem??

Your destination port is suppose to be where you are hooking up your laptop/analyzer with software to monitor the network traffic on the source ports, not where your router connects to the network.
Mirroring basically devotes the destiation port to listening...it is no longer a network port for normal network use.
I assume you are trying to (somehow) monitor these ports remotely
