Pc turn on but has repeated long beeps

Hello,

my pc turn on on but there is no display on the monitor. I hear repeated long beeps. I presume its that the memory is defective. the old memory is DDR 256MB. I changed it with a new one, 512M400 UL. Mobo specifications: ECS 865G-M8 REV: 1.0 15-S04-011004
