Ipod nano 4th gen won't work

Hello,
i have a ipod nano that won't turn on. When i plug it into my computer the itune the apple comes up, then a line goes across the screen, then it goes blank. It keeps doing that same thing over, over. What does this mean, and is there anything i can do. Thanks!
