Hello,
I had plugged in my external hard drive to our university computer trying to get some data . when i went home tried to pen my hard drive, it showed all the folders as shortcuts and showed that it had viruses. I scanned the hard drive using kaspersky antivirus. It showed that the viruses were deleted and back up of the files made. when i tried to open the shortcuts of the files they could not open. i deleted these shortcuts and i lost the data. when i am scanning, i can see the file names passing and the properties are showing the same size as before i lost the data. is there a way i can recover this data as it has all that i need. Please help

Hello,

Try this 1.

Check whether the files are not in hidden mode.

Click on "Start" --> In search box, type cmd and press "Enter".

"Command Prompt" will be opened.

Here I assume your external hard drive letter as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

Note : Replace the letter g with your external hard drive drive letter.

Now check for your files in external hard drive.

After that, download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the below link

Update it --> Perform "Full Scan"

Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan".

Good Luck.
