My sound isn't working!

Hello,
my sound on my laptop is messed up. it works, because it beeps whenever i plug it in to charge. but it doesn't work when i try to listen to music or watch videos. i thought that i could just put headphones in but still no sound. it was working earlier today when i was checking my email, i noticed it stopped when i was playing family feud. the game was going really slow and had no sound so i just closed out of it. PLEASE HELP!
