Hello,
I have just tried to uninstall norton, and to download and use firefox and chrome as well as avg, but even though internet explorer works fine - the other two won't connect. avg also does not connect and i get a message asking for proxy?

Hi there,

Seems norton has not been totally been removed from system,you need to use an uninstaller application to remove it then you will be able to use the other browsers and avg to make updates,get revo downloaded on this link:

hello again!! thank you very much for your suggestion - i used revo and deleted some of the components..but i cant delete the symantec shared folder and the problem still persists:(

Hello,

I suggest you download, install and run this totally free yet very efficient registry cleaner :

https://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

Then you should be able to delete the rest of Norton. Symantec has always had the very bad habit of leaving dung all over a computer.
