I recently cracked the screen on my Acer Aspire one Netbook, and at the moment, I cannot afford to replace the screen, but I do have an external monitor. When ai plug the monitor in normally, and turn on the laptop, nothing shows up, even when I use Fn F5. I use F8 when it turns on to start it on 'safe mode', and I can use it then.

The problem is, it means I can't use some of my software or use the Internet, and when I try to select starting it up normally from the menu, the external monitor goes blank and tells me to check the signal cable. Everything is connected and fine, and besides the screen damage to the laptop, it's fine, and when I try to set it to the multiple monitor setting on my desktop settings, it doesn't allow me to do a thing.

What can I do to fix this, and is there something I'm missing? I've tried all I know.
