WD My Book Essential

Need help! WD My Book Essential suddenly not recognized on my desktop. Lights not lit, it flashes and freezes my system, but nothing.
I really hope I haven't lost all our family photos.

Any thoughts on recovery?
Running Windows XP.

Hi there,

transfer the hard disk to another external enclosure then connect to system to retrieve your data.

I don't know how to transfer the data to something else, when the disk is not recognizable on the system.

Hi there,

Purchase an enclosure for external hard disk then open old one removing the hard disk from it and fix in new one,you will get it online or from local computer shops.
