Windows media player does not work

Hello,
windows media player no longer works on my computer, i downloaded winamp and since then it has not worked,winamp is ok but i cannot look at dvds on it, i used to use media player for that, i have uninstalled winamp but still no media player, please tell me what to do.

it may be that you have lost some codecs.
