Blank Screen After Logo

Hello,

I have a Sony Vaio Notebook and when I turn it on, it shows the logo and then goes to a blank screen. I know it's not the monitor and I've tried unplugging it, taking the battery pack out and have it turned off for nth amount of time.
I don't know how to get into Safe Mode (I don't know the key to get to it)
I can't get past the blank screen.
Could someone help please?
