No display from PS3 to TV Closed

Hello,  
how do you know if your ps3 works becuase its not showing on tv but the power button works help me please i just bought it used from a friend i will be mad if it doesnt work and paid 200 for it in that case should of bought a new one thank help please

what you got to do is hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds and you will hear 2 beeps and it will reset the ps3 to standard definition which means you can use av cables or component av cables
