Gateway portable media drive

Hello,
I'm having problems with my gateway portable media drive. My computer does not recognize the drive and when I insert the drive into the expansion bay lights come on but my computer stalls and IE crashes. It all started after I used the drive on my work computer but now I cant even use the drive on it... Please help!! I need to retrieve family photos
