As you say you have the original cd of COD, this manipulation will no problem this:
You have to download steam from the link below:
https://ccm.net/downloads/video-games/4895-steam/
Install it, open and create a steam account. Click on my games, activate a product on steam and then follow what he asks he will need the serial number which you'll find in the cover of your cd.
