Hello,
Actually the problem should be coming from some system files responsible for the running of the OS. Have you tried starting the OS in safe mode? From the safe mode, you can have the opportunity to have the system restored.
Good luck and feel free to message back if the problem doesn't get solved.

Hi Shell,
it sounds like your PC is blue screening.
when you turn on the PC and you keep pressing F8 until you get an advanced boot menu.
from this menu select "disable automatic restart on system failure" or something along those lines.
you'll find where your PC normally restarts, it hangs on a blue screen with a STOP error.
can you tell me what the error says along with its error code.
eg IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0x0000007c

Kieferschild, with all due respect, you mentioned "advanced boot menu", etc. This is more like Windows 7 stuff isn't it? Shell has XP.

In XP, continuously pressing F8 in Win XP, will get you to safe mode options, not advanced boot. Am I correct?

Kieferschild,
My apologies, I'm just going to quietly sneak away. Pretend I was never here.
