Laptop wont connect to router

Hello, I have a netgear router hooked up tp desktop and it works great,but cant figure out how to get connected to the wireless signal with laptop.Whay settings need to be on desktop,router and laptop to connect.It always says aquiring address to netgear then cant connect.Please Please help.Oh ya we have made it secure connection also so hackers cant get in.How can i?????????
