Can't open downloads

Hello,

OK, so for the last few weeks everything I've downloaded shows up in the download file, but when I click on it nothing happens. I right click and it won't let me select the option to open. I found a similar thread that talked about uninstalling AVG (which I don't have or can't find) and unabling my UAC (which I did), but it didn't work for me.
I'm running Vista Service Pack 1 and the latest Firefox browser.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

hi,
Your problem may be due to some viruses or spywares.

First, try running an online virus scan.

If it finds nothing, then:
Click
>Start
>All Programs
>Accessories
>System Tools
>System Restore.
try to restore your computer at an earlier time before you had thisn problem.

I ran a virus check and other than some cookies I was clean. I can open downloads on internet explorer, so I think the problem is with firefox.

Thanks for the advice--I going to check into firefox before I do the system restore.
