Can i use a PATA hdd inside SATA laptop?

Can i use a PATA hdd (with pins) inside a laptop with SATA connection with an adapter?

will this adapter work?

NO. this adapter is for a desktop computer

There is no room inside the laptop case case for an adapter. Often the drive plugs directly into the motherboard. SATA is much faster anyway.
