Hello Vicky,
Kaspersky, although an excellent antivirus, has more than one scanning engines working all the time, that's why the system is slowing down.
You may also have other applications that you are unaware of that are running in the background from boot time which do not need to run.
I suggest that you download and run this simple tool which will identify the unwanted applications and help you prevent running from boot time.
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
Two other ways which will help speed the system is to regularly clean all of your temp files with CCleaner:
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4555-ccleaner/
To avoid your system looking for files too long, you can also clean your registry from obsolete values and keys:
https://ccm.net/download/download-13339-eusing-free-registry-cleaner
Finally, defragment your hardisk.
All of the above applications and tools are free, yes you read correctly, totally Free.
Good luck and let me know about your speed.

Sorry Vicky
Sorry, there is no option for it, that's the way the cookie crumbles as KIS has your security at heart as well as its name.
