Are you getting the black screen after the motherboard's brand name ?

Thanks for the response, but not sure what you mean.
Its a permanent black screen, the only light I get on is on the power pack.

I mean, when you turn on your laptop, are you getting the motherboard's brand name screen (Like Dell for you)?
no I get absolutely nothing (bot even a fan noise), seems like no power is getting from the power pack to the PC

Try this 1
Remove the USB cable.
Unplug the power cord --> Remove the battery --> Hold the power button for 60
seconds --> Connect the power supply then try to switch ON the laptop and later
put the battery back into the laptop.
