Hello,
I have a gateway laptop,it was plugged in and charging and on, and it sudddenly just shut off and now will not turn back on. I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but i will mention that i mistakenly tried to put my cellphone charger in the USB port (haha it was dark) right around the time it shut off. Can someone please tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?

I would try the 30 second fix:
1. remove battery and disconnect from the power converter (wall plug)
2. push in the power button for 30 seconds
3. replace battery and try to boot the laptop.
This "power cycle" fix has been known to fix may laptops
