Hello,
My gateway laptop has lost its SATA hard drive. The BIOS sees the drive correctly but Windows won't boot up to it. If I run the WinXP installer it doesn't see the drive either.
This drive has worked on this laptop for over a year. No changes were made to cause the problem; one day it worked and the next day it didn't.
All assistance will be appreciated.
Chris.

Hello,
May be the SATA settings got changed in the BIOS.
Try this 1
Go to BIOS --> Load default settings --> Set the first boot device as your
"Hard disk" --> Save the settings and exit from the BIOS.
Good Luck
