Hi,
This sounds like a heat related issue. I would try to blow out any dust that has collected around the fan. Also make sure that all vents are clear of obstructions when you use the laptop.
It can be due also to a failure hard disk,
Even if there is a problem with your
hard disk also it will turn off automatically.
Click on the below link and follow the instructions from 1 to 3

Check if you able to use that live CD without any problem and also play some
media files.
[Note : In Live CD use single-click not double-click as used in Windows to open
any file or folder]
