Can't add a projector or display (intel dr.)

Hello,
I have a gateway that uses a intel graphics card. Unlike any other computer that I've used before I'm not given the option to add a projector or dual display. When I open graphics driver it only gives me the option of one monitor. A few months ago it was plug-n-play, no problem. What happened?
