Dell laptop freezing when playing any media

Hello,

I'm having some problems with my Dell Inspiron laptop whenever I try to play any media. At first it froze and slowed down frequently making unhealthy whirring sounds when I played a dvd, but now it does the same with iTunes music and any video online like on youtube as well. I've only had this laptop since August so I don't know what the problem could be!

Any suggestions, please?

Hm, the only thing I could think of is corrupt codec installation. Try installing the free k-lite codec pack on your PC. here is a direct link:
