Maybe you can take any video converter freeware for a try. It can help you change the widescreen to take up the whole screen.
Steps
1. Add videos to the program by clicking "Add video files" button
2. Click the Magic Wand icon on the right of the file list. then on the crop panel, you can set the screen size, or manually drag the dotted on the preview window to change the video screen size.
