Ipod just wants plugged into itunes

Hello,
When I shut the ipod off at night, in the morning it wants to be plugged into itunes. Nothing will work just wants plugged into itunes. Now it says it's restoring to factory condition. Is this broken or is there something that can be done. Thanks

I think the ipod will be allright.
