Upgrading Win 7 home basic to Win 7 Ultimate. Solved/Closed

Hello, 
Please some one assist why my laptop (Compaq presario CQ56) cant load windows after finishing the installation. 
I have managed to install windows right; but when the window finishes everything, it shuts down and i get a black screen. if i restart the computer i get black screen with blinking "white hyphen".

Please assist.

What happens if you press alt+ctrl+del?

Can you boot in safe mode?

When i press Cntl +Alt+Del, it restart but does not load windows. I get blinking cursor.

You must find the issue somewhat frustrating.

I would be inclined to suggest that you insert you Win altimate CD, reboot and attempt repair.

so far i have realized that it fails to get the os....is there anyone who might help to sort out this thing.....its driving me nuts, nuts nuts

Hi,
After a very hard thinking and weird trials, I sorted myself out. May be some one will get this problem and will need to sort it out this is all I  did.

I reformatted the disc completely win Win 98 OS. Installed the Win 7 Ultimate and it worked. The issue might have been brought about by the partition that had the recovery files...so get rid of it.
