Cannot access a folder on my computer

Hello,
I have a problem that's been bugging me for many days....the problem is, i cannot access a folder in my E drive..whenever i click on it suddenly 'my computer' closes by itself...and also on other drive the F drive i can access all the files but whenever i click on the movies stored there to watch again 'my computer' closes by itself.....is this a virus or a hardware problem....please help........
