Take our laptop battery and disconnect power adapter. Push and hold down power button for about 10 seconds. Do not reinstall battery, but just plug in ac adapter. Try to power on laptop. If you still get same result. Take a flashlight and, while laptop is on, shine it on screen. Do you see a faint image? If you do, it could either be your screen light source (CCFL bulb or LED) or the inverter. Good way to test is take an external computer monitor and hook it up to your external VGA connector on the laptop and see if you get video on that monitor. If you do, then it is definitely your screen or inverter.
Good Luck!
