Hello,
I have so many movies, files, folders & musics in my external hard disk . Due to some virus or something i don't know when i opened the external hard disk i can't see some folders inside it, but if i open windows explorer i can see that the HDD is full or has data.... and and i tried to go to view TAB and chk the option for show hidden files: but that didn't help/... i made a collection of movies . So please if you can tell me what is the problem .

the virus initially made shortcuts of all folders when the HDD was connected to the infected computer.... and then when i connected HDD to my system to scan and clean virus... then the folders were not there.... but i still see there is only 2.5GB space left of the 200GB .... however i don't see the data when i explore the HDD.

is there a program/software or way to find the hidden folders..... it will be really appreciated.

Sanjeev

Hello,

Try this 1

Follow all the steps as given below.

Check whether the files are not in hidden mode. Follow the following steps.

Step 1:

Click on the below link and download the file "AutorunExterminator"

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/5911-autorun-exterminator/

[Note : Make sure Dot Net Framework is installed in your PC to install the

"AutorunExterminator" OR

Click on the below link and download the Dot Net Framework

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=19]

Extract it --> Double-click on "AutorunExterminator" --> Now plug your external

hard disk.

This will remove the autorun.inf files from your flash drive and also from drives.

Step 2:

Click on "Start" --> In search bar, type cmd. Right-click on the command prompt

that appears in the search and select "Run as administrator".

"Command Prompt" will be opened.

(If you are using Windows XP then open the command prompt directly)

Here I assume your external hard disk drive letter as G:

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Replace the letter g with your external hard disk drive letter.

Now check for your files in external hard disk.

Step 3:

After that, download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the below link

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

Update it --> Perform "Full Scan"

Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan".

Good Luck.
