Hello,

I still can't open my hidden files. I am done doing the following Steps

1. Go to Start --> Run, then type Regedit
2. Navigate to the registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\Hidden\SHO WALL
3. Find a key called CheckedValue.
4. Double Click CheckedValue key and modify it to 1. This is to show all the hidden files.)

The Checked value is already 1 so i did not modify it anymore.

I also tried typing attrib -h on the run field but it closes automatically.

I also did full scan using McAfee and the Windows Defender but it did not detect any virus or problem with my laptop.

I am using windows7. Can you help me with this? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello,

Try this 1

Follow all the steps as given below.

Check whether the files are not in hidden mode. Follow the following steps.

Step 1:

Click on the below link and download the file "AutorunExterminator"

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/5911-autorun-exterminator/

[Note : Make sure Dot Net Framework is installed in your PC to install the

"AutorunExterminator" OR

Click on the below link and download the Dot Net Framework

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=19]

Extract it --> Double-click on "AutorunExterminator" --> Now plug your external

hard disk.

This will remove the autorun.inf files from all the drives.

Step 2:

Click on "Start" --> In search bar, type cmd. Right-click on the command prompt

that appears in the search and select "Run as administrator".

"Command Prompt" will be opened.

(If you are using Windows XP then open the command prompt directly)

Here I assume your hidden files are in the G drive.

Enter this command.

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

You can copy the above command --> Right-click in the Command Prompt and

paste it.

Note : Replace the letter g with the drive letter where the hidden files exists.

Now check for your files in drive.

Step 3:

After that, download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from the below link

https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/4621-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

Update it --> Perform "Full Scan"

Note : Default selected option is "Quick Scan".

Good Luck.
