Hello,
If it is reading the CDs, then it is not at all a hardware trouble. Follow the following instructions then.
Run "regedit" and get to the string key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and delete "upper filters" and "lower filters in the right side window.
Then right click on My Computer and click on Properties.
Reach the hardware tab, click device manager and expand the dvd/cdrom drives.
Then simply right click the dvd rom and click uninstall.
Now restart your computer.

Thanks for your info,I have doon all this and it still does work.
I have been told that it could be the laser on the dvd that is faulty,I have got someone looking at it at the moment,I will let you know the outcome
