About 2 months ago, my year old Acer laptop stopped being able to get a charge from the adapter I had. So I got a new one. A couple weeks ago, it started acting up. I could re-position the cord where it plugged into the computer, and it would charge, but it had to be in at just the right spot. Now there isn't a position that works.

Could there be a connection problem in the actual laptop? Or could something be causing the adaptors to go bad?

One of the common problems with laptops is the connection for the power input cable. The connection(s) to the motherboard can fail. Sometimes the plug can be re-soldered and/or replaced with a new one.

Good Luck
