No sound

Hello,

I have connected my amp to my hd tv and the surround sound works perfectly. B4 I moved house last week wrote down all connections making sure it was the same after moving. B4 I moved I also connected my laptop to tv via hdmi cable and pic fine on tv and audio worked perfectly through amp, now that I've moved home I reconnected everything EXACTLY as it was b4 but now I can't get sound through amp, how is this possible. I've already looked at forums on the web and followed several diff ways but still no sound, laptop says that hdmi is connected n set as default but still no sound even though everything is exactly as it was b4. When I connect a VGA cable n 3.5 jack cable all works fine for a while until pic starts going fuzzy. Getting VERY VERY VERY angry with this now as spent a lot of money on this stuff for it not to work when it did perfectly b4. Please help as cant take much more of this, thanks.
