Hello,
I have just followed the steps for downgrading my machine to XP, but I am concerned that changing the BIOS settings may effect my computer and am wondering if they should be changed back to the original settings. It asked me to turn my "Flash Cache module off" and set my "SATA configuration to ATA". now that I've successfully installed the OS, should I change these back?

NO. XP does not have the software to talk to the advanced SATA hardware.
