windows xp home edition logs into user account and logs outClosed

Question

Hello, i have an eee pc with windows xp home edition. Windows starts normally and gets to the user account screen and when I click my user account it starts to log in and then logs right back off. I have tried logging into the administrator account with safe mode but it does the same thing. I have also tried to restore the last known good configuration, that did not work either. The laptop doesn't have an internal CD drive but I do have one I plug in. I also do not have another computer on the network that I can use to try to access this one with. This started after I installed norton anti virus that came with my internet access setup. Please help I dont know what to do!!!!

Hello,
Try this 1 
1) When you switch ON your computer, start tapping the "F8" key to get "Windows Advanced Options"( if boot menu appears, press "Esc" key and keep tapping the F8 key)
2) Select the option "Last Known Good Configuration". 
3) If the problem still exists then follow the step 1 and this time select the option "Safe mode with command" prompt. Let me know if you are able to get the command prompt window.

Hey, thanks I have tried last restore it doesnt work. I have also tried safe mode with command prompt and a new admin user account comes up but when I click that account it does the same thing. It starts to log on flashes a black screen and then logs right back off a second later.
