Hi Jayac,
Kindly check if the Audio Drivers are up to date as Windows XP might not be able to find the updated drivers for the Sound Card in your computer.

Sounds were there before, after installing Windows XP I couldn't get the sound back.

Hi Jayac,
Please try the below mentioned steps and check if the audio is back:
1. Run the Windows Audio Playback Diagnose and Repair from the below MS FIX-IT MS Fix it :

2. Check the Audio Jacks, Speakers and audio cables for damage. If Yes, replace the damaged component.
3. Check for Hardware or Software Configuration Changes in Windows (such as volume icon at the bottom right side of the screen).
4. Download and Install the Latest Audio Drivers.
5. Test with another known good head phones or external speakers. If passes, Replace Speakers only.
Do reply with results.
